The vision for our Women’s Ministry is to provide a safe place for women to be encouraged, to have fellowship, pray for each other and connect with one another. Our heart’s desire is found in II Corinthians 1:3-4 which says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in our affliction so that we may comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Sewing Sisters is a ministry that meets the third Thursday of each month from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Our goal is to fellowship and to teach the next generation the lost art of sewing. Each month, experienced sewers work one-on-one with new sewers. From seniors to children, this ministry crosses all generations. Each month we begin with a “show and tell” where members enjoy showing what they have made during the past month. What an experience to see the talent of both the ones who have been sewing for years and the ones who have just started. One of our current projects is pillowcase dresses which are just that, dresses made out of pillowcases. Why did we decide to take this on as a project? These dresses have been sent to Africa where girls there adore them. Young girls in Africa receive the blessing of a new dress while we have the pleasure of serving the Lord and sending His love from SSCC to these young ladies. Sewing sisters also takes on traditional projects such as quilt-making and summer shorts. Every month is different and what a blessing it is to have all ages from 7 to 80+ participate in this monthly ministry. We would love to have you join us on the 3rd Thursdays of each month!
